Has this ever happened to anyone, where neighbors excessively remove or trim trees? New neighbors just basically cut the whole side of a line of 100 ft maple trees lining the side of their property. These trees were absolutely beautiful, planted over 70 years ago, and now have been reduced to ugly half-trees. They even went into our neighbor's yard and began cutting their trees without permission. What is with this unique group of people that despises trees and cares nothing for preserving the character and beauty of a neighborhood? It may seem like a small peeve, but once it happens, you realize how much something like this will get on your nerves.

It's so sad as it took a lifetime for those trees to become perfect, and whoosh they are gone in a day. Why do people buy in treed areas? Why do they feel the need to trespass to promote their anti tree activities?

We had someone buy the house across the street -- he claimed he loved the area, all the old trees, the canopy, the lushness. He then cut down every last one. As fate would have it, he bought the house to knock it down and erected a McMansion. There was so much animosity; the neighborhood united against him. We couldn't stop his plan, but we called him for what he was. The house wasn't completed, we had put up enough hurdles to slow him down and cost him additional money that he sold it unfinished.

The new neighbor is planting all new trees and gardens. PHEW!

And the house is actually a newer house, about 6 years old. It was a subdivided lot from a bungalow next door that was built in the '30s. The owners of the bungalow had planted this line of trees along the woods way back. When this house was built it was nice that this line of old trees was left, and it really made the house. The new neighbors came in and said how much they loved the neighborhood, now they destroyed the appearence of these trees, what, so there aren't branches hanging over their driveway? It's really a shame. If they wanted this look why didn't they move somewhere like Medford?

That happened in Patchogue on Roe BLvd. A new homeowner cut down about 20 trees ; they were gorgeous, huge and old oak trees.

The town came in and made them replant a few and do some more landscaping. Dont know if he was fined or not, but it bit him in the rear end.

Townships need to enact a law to automaticly revoke all building permits if a tree is cut down Illegally.

These Asians and builders see fines as the cost of getting things done. They just "cut and pay"

It takes so long for a beautiful tree to grow...an hour to cut it down.

"They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to seem 'em
Don't it always seem to go,
That you don't know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"
