Sustainability?
Energy efficiency?
Green energy?

Give us a little more info about your environmental science project.
There are many professionals using this website that can give you more in-depth answers about things you don't understand.

Now, to answer your questions:
1. yes, 10 gallon.
2. TV, Computer, refrigerator, led bulbs, etc
3. plastic bags
4. yes
5. yes, global warming has been happening since earth was first created. The main source of co and co2 to the environment occur in the sea. Volcanoes, once active, are the #1 source for global warming.
6. No. They know fossil fuels will run out eventually. And they are heavily investing into alternative energies to keep their business going.

May I suggest you post in all NY forums? You are comparing states, not parts of states. The questions you ask will have a stark difference around the state. (I'm in Buffalo, have been here from LI for 45 years)
