Who else has to travel on 347 every morning and absolutely hates it?!

I have to make a left onto 347 from old town during my morning commute and I think it is the worst intersection in the area. Everyone coming down 347 goes though yellow/red lights so everyone like me who is making the left has absolutely no room to turn and make the left.

Oh and to make matters worse their putting in a Dunkin donuts right off 347 in between outback and 7/11 and the gas station on the corner!

When are things going to change with the traffic here! When are they going to start making it better for people and not worse!

After the next couple of major storms when people start fleeing the region? There's only so much that can be done with the infrastructure, vis-a-vis the roadways. And the only way congestion will ease is if the population shrinks.

More people have cars now than when the roads were built. It's pretty much that simple. Used to be mostly one-car families on the Island, now most have at least two. And everyone is using them.

347 is the worst road on LI, by far. I have 43 traffic lights for my 15 mile commute every morning, beyond ridiculous. All the construction they are doing will add zero to the problems.

I think 25 wins this contest because it's pretty much terrible from Queens to Coram.

I find in the morning, 25 seems to be better from Selden to the mall than 347. You'd think otherwise, but it moves faster. 25 used to be much worse, not anymore.

30 years ago 347 was great. Everyone moved along nicely. Then houses, townhomes, apartments, etc., were slammed up into every possible nook and cranny. Now NYS is doing a beautiful job screwing up 347 in Hauppauge and Port Jeff Station. Wondering when Old Town will be 'improved'?

Do you have to use that intersection? Can you head down Boyle to Middle Country and head west that way?

If I am south of 347 for any reason on the morning, I take Boyle all the way down to 25, then 25 to 347. many times I will even avoid 347 all together and get over to Townline and take that all the way down to Vets.

Agreed! Where else in America do municipalities have to have their Department of Transportation hang signs like this:
