Hi, we are looking to move to Jericho or Syosset within 6-9 months & I'm trying to figure out my week day commute to midtown.

My first question is, if I take the 7:49 AM train from Syosset to Penn, is there a place to sit? Also, what about the 5:46 PM train back from Penn to Syosset?

The second question is, what is the traffic on North Broadway heading into Hicksville station around 8:00 AM like? Say from the intersection of Jericho Turnpike & North Broadway, generally does it take more than 15-20 minutes to get to the parking lot of Hicksville station?

I will be conducting test commutes once I'm ready to put an offer but just wanted some feedback from the folks who commute everyday via these routes. Thanks for your help.

.
The morning train is going to be hit or miss
Trains start at Huntington and stop at Cold Spring Harbor before getting to Syosset. From my experience (CSH and Huntington) by the time the train got to Syosset, only the first commuters to enter were assured of a seat; some would often stand--even on earlier trains.
Doing a couple of test runs is a great idea as things may have changed in recent years!

The evening train is packed, but once you learn where the doors are and get there early (as in preferably when the train track is announced), you can get a seat. It's a learning curve

I arrived at the Hicksville parking garage on Duffy Ave this morning at 7:50 am and it was full. Parking will be difficult if you plan on coming after 8am.

If you sit in the back cars of the 5:46 you should get a seat
