I'm coming from Exit 61 LIE
Do I take the Port Jeff Ferry or Orient Ferry?
I am heading up to Maine. I know Orient is further, but really no traffic heading out east around 9am

I take Orient when heading to Maine. You'll be fine for traffic this time of year unless there's construction. It's a nicer ride and the people out of Orient are a better of class of people than Port Jeff.

What people are you talking about? Ive taken both ferries, what is to be concerned about the people working on them?

Do you need sensitive people to guide you onto the boat? Do you need fine service at the snack bar?

Yep...take the Orient ferry.....just be careful driving through the Northfolk...you might find people not up to your liking.

Best Route to Maine.

Port Jeff Ferry
Take CT-8 North to CT-15 North
Ct-15 will merge back in to I-91 North
I-91 North to I-84 East
I-84 East becomes Mass Pike I-90 East
I-90 East for one exit to I-290 East
I-290 East to I-495 North
I-495 North merges back into I-95 North
I-95 North to Maine border.

I'm talking about the quality of the passengers.

Ok, you're probably right on that one but its a minor difference...unless you go into the bar area.

Sure they do, but there's a better class of people out East on the Orient ferries. That's like saying 27 is the same out in Bridgehampton as it is in Brentwood.

I don't get what you are saying. Do you think only people "out east" take The Orient Point Ferry? I have taken both dozens of times and the "class of people" is the last thing on my mind when I choose one or the other.

I came back from Maine this summer and took Orient for the simple reason that I would rather drive as little as possible on I-95 in CT and a trip back on the North Fork is always a nice ride (unless it was this past weekend).

As the OP, I quess my question is: does the Orient Ferry leave you further in CT?
Or, they both arrive at the same location? Orient will be at least 45 min drive VS 15 min
