Considering the wrought-iron fences that just popped up around the property, it looks like the old 4-acre Pergament building is finally going to get demolished.
This website says that it'll be replaced by a fitness center, a potion shop, and a crappy Chinese food place. Nice.
I had hopes that the entire property, along with the 1.6 acre empty parking lot behind it, would be made into some much-needed public parkland.
Long Island is just getting concrete-er and grayer by the day. Where did all the green go?
A former neighbor was a Pergament manager and there was some problem that the owner and the town or county were involved in trying to remedy. Mineola schools approached the owner to rent the land to park the school buses in the rear parking lot. The owner had to decline.

That would be convenient. The high school is across the street.
hey how do you know the Chinese food will be crappy? You mean Americans don't like Americanized Chinese food?
As far as green space, I'd normally agree with you but this is Jericho Tpke. Nobody is looking for a park and it adds very little economic value to an area like that. Aside from community parks and the tiny ones strewn throughout neighborhoods, there are still plenty of parks on LI. http://nysparks.com/regions/long-island/default.aspx
I was wondering the same thing, if you go to the link in the OP it says a Vitamin Shop will be coming to that location.
