Is Cathedral Gardens in Hempstead a safe and/or good area to live? Some beautiful houses at a vast discount to Garden City. Obviously from schools but curious as to whether that is it or if there is more to the story. Any help would be great. Thank you!
Beautiful area bordered by an absolutely atrocious one. And you will still pay a premium in both house price and taxes. Can't use the schools there, nor any of the amenities in Garden City, and there pretty much aren't any in Hempstead.
Thanks everyone, really appreciate the quick feedback. Think I get the gist very quickly. Looked into the taxes and all appear to be around $15k, which strikes me as quite a lot for what you're getting.
Think I will be putting the kabosh on this idea.
Thanks again and look forward to a new posting asking you where I should live!
Very nice area, and crime really isn't much of an issue in that section. However, some of the high crime areas of Hempstead are fairly close, and the schools are quite bad.

Was that figure only the County/School taxes or did it include the Village taxes too? Hempstead Village has its own police force, so the Village taxes can be a bit much there.

about half of what is considered "Cathedral Garden" is in the village of Hempstead, thus subject to their taxes as well.
