Jesus Christ, you people Moderator cut: language removed and moan about anything. With the exception of places like Trader Joes, all of the supermarkets carry virtually all the same stuff. Just go wherever is cheapest. Do you really care if there are pretty displays on the end-caps or if the cashier does or doesn't say "have a nice day"?

Trader Joes is non-union which makes a lot more sense.

Waldbaums and Parthmark unions and the PE shop that owns them that took on way too much leveraged bankrupted them.
Unions didn't bankrupt them.....they provide a livable wage, pension, and benefits. You're off from work today because of the work of UNIONS.

I tend to agree, but when it comes down to it, I don't really give a hoot (Thanks, NTR, for making me use that term) as long as it's clean and relatively affordable.

The management of Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company gave themselves nice bonuses late last year. A&P Insiders Took Home Millions in Year Before Bankruptcy - WSJ

Also, the reason why this company is going under has nothing to do with unions. It has to do with the fact that they bought out Pathmark. Pathmark was a company heavily in debt, more debt was issued to finance the buyout. All of that debt was too much for A&P. Bad management, nothing else is what did them in.

Oh its much easier for people to blame those middle class unions. They keep the lower and middle class fighting with each other. Private sector vs Public sector while these crooks run away with the cash!

Liquidation companies usually come in and mark up everything but put large font "Liquidation!" signs all over the place and make people think they are saving money when in reality the prices are often times higher than non-sale retail.
