Just got off the phone with Meenan, salesman was mad pushy (but then, I think they all are?). Offered me the following:

- $2.269 ceiling protection plan (max rate, but oil can be delivered at lower market rate)
- $1.99/gal for first delivery ("Welcome!" perk)
- $99.95 Platinum Service Contract that covers 100 parts (compare to Petro which covers 65 parts, and Slomin's which covers 23 parts)
- Free water tank protection plan add-on (usually costs $$)
- 1 free programmable thermostat if I want it
- $100 one-time credit

With the $100 one-time credit, I'm basically getting the service contract for free

I called OSI and their current ceiling plan rate is $2.599. Slomin's is probably $1.99 fixed rate from what I hear, dunno about their ceiling plan rate. I may just sign up with Meenan's, but there is a $399 early termination fee.
Thats a very good deal!

I don't recommend a ceiling plan, it sounds good but Oil company follows their own market rate. You will be still paying $2.269 even when the price of Oil goes lower. Call them back and ask for their fix rate.

Absolutely not true. I'm on ceiling with petro and never came near the ceiling last year. Now will you get COD rates? No. But you almost never do with a contract.

The Meenan salesperson told me that the prices they use for the "ceiling rate" plans are about $0.17 above market (whatever that means). So say market is $1.80, i'd get delivery at $1.97. How true this ends up becoming? Who knows.

More like $0.40, but thats what you get with stability of a contract. The price you got, I think is a very fair deal. I wouldnt expect COD any lower than $1.50 at its low this season, and would expect about $2.40 at its peak. Its a gamble, and VERY volatile this year. Damn investors are doing a number on oil this year.

Even if you end up paying 2.40. It's a steal compared to what we were paying 2 years ago.

A steal??? Sure its better, but we the consumer are always on the short end. I wish oil/gas was regulated better to keep prices in check, and more stable.

Don't we all. But I'm sure we will all be paying 3.50 and up again before you know it, and there will be threads about locking in at 3.25 and "super cheap" COD oil for 2.80 a gallon. Enjoy this while it lasts

I doubt prices will go up that much, at least not this year. The market is still oversupplied and prices may go up with demand but should be a lot cheaper than last year.
