Does anyone have any experience buying a home with a Navy Federal VA Loan?
Navy Federal quoted me with either a 3.1% or 3.5% loan rate depending on whether I pay the standard 2 points or an extra point for the lower rate, but they told me that closing costs would be about $33k for 3.1% and $24k For 3.5%. 2 other banks I spoke to quoted me @ 3.75% and 4% with closing costs both around $14k with the same 2 point fee. The lady I spoke with told me that the figure was "just a simple estimate" and may be different.

I'm paying closing costs out of pocket, and I've only heard of good things from others buying with NFCU but out of state. Any one with experience with them?

The initial estimate on closing costs is outrageous. We got quoted $18k but we'll probably end up paying closer to $3k. Be sure to keep your LO on track, some are better at communication than others.
