I don't totally agree with your first statement. Santa is a mystery and a fun one for kids of all ages. I think that when the kids are really young your statement is true, however as they get older the "like" image of a Santa to themselves becomes more important and less confusing. If you are black your preference would most likely be for a black Santa, white, a white Santa, Asian an asian Santa etc. Certainly isn't the end of the world but a preference.
I offered a suggestion because if I were a particular race I would prefer my Santa to be like me too. To me that just makes sense, and more so when the OP stated it was not a racial debate. I would bet that in Hawaii, the Santas are Hawaiian.

Horsehockey! I worked in a very diverse elementary school for 35 years as the school custodian. I had more kids in the cafeteria ask me about Santa Claus than you can count. NEVER did one say how come he's white. Kids want loot not looks. It's adults who ruin everything for kids. Your comment "I want Santa to look like me" is shameful and sophomoric.
Oh...Merry Christmas.

I think children like to identify. If every Santa was black I'm sure whites would be asking for info on finding a white Santa. Idk why this turned into such a big thing. Just wanted to know if there were any black Santas for pics.

Many years ago, my now 44 year old son and I went into Macy's in Herald Square to see Santa. It was a big deal and there was beautiful Christmas music and a long winding pathway with elves, toys , trees and twinkling lights and he was so excited. When we got to the front , he went in to meet Santa & it was a GIRL !!!!

1977 was a huge year for Women's Lib and that is how Macy's capitulated , I guess .

Needless to say , that was the end of Santa for him .

I am not white.

Not once in my life did it occur to me to wonder about Santa's race. He just is who he is.

He is who he is based on what people say he is. St. Nick was from Turkey. He wasn't white. But idk why this keeps going in this direction. I'm just looking for a black Santa for pictures.

Is there a mall or area where the main clientele are Black? That would be a start, maybe.

Being that Santa isn't real.... Who gives a darn if the OP wants her Santa to be black???? I don't think it matters one iota.
The true meaning of Christmas isn't about Santa Claus anyway.
