i am planning on buying a house in levittown.
Just want to make sure about the following.
1. How is school district as compared to Hicksville and Bethpage?

2. How is commute to city? My wife is not working right now, but when she starts to look for job oppurtunities, I hope she gets one in Long island but what if she gets in manhattan, will she be able to take train? I know hicksville train station parking fills up quick, But what is the parking situation for bethpage and Bellemore train stations?

3. How easy it is to rent out second floor with separate entrance? Since levitt houses don't have basements, i'm planning to rent out second floor with separate entrance. I know in hicksville, it is very easy to rent out. Not sure about levittown.
Your real estate agent should be able to answer your questions.

Comparing schools? Check online and/or go talk to the superintendents of each school and ask questions about what's important to YOU.

If your wife isn't working yet, maybe she can check out the different parking lots on different days during rush hour parking; IMHO nothing like first hand knowledge.

As far as apartments go, it'll cost you $$ to make it legal and to keep it legal. However, you'd have to check zoning laws to determine if you have enough parking, set-back, etc. Without knowing the property, all you will get is generalities which may or may not apply to a property you're interested in. This is where a good agent can be helpful in assisting you with correct information (or showing you where to obtain it).

Good luck with your search! It's exciting and scary
