Thats interesting.....Only time I've ever seen a bat in real life besides the Bronx Zoo was in London....they're easy to spot at night when the moon is out.

It is definitely related. You can buy a "bat house" to help with mosquito control. It is not the be-all, end-all solution, but it can help.
When I was a kid we used to have loads of bats outside at night. We would fall asleep in the back yard and not get a single mosquito bite. I dare somebody to try that now . The bats controlled the mosquitos. Now there are not enough bats and dragon flies. Plus with the addition of day biting species from Asia it's a big problem.
