I’m so glad we decided to buy a wood burning stove insert to put in my fireplace years ago. At this point wood is cheaper than oil. Looks like we’ll be using it more this winter.
Is there a reason why heating oil is going for nearly $5.70 a gallon when the cost per barrel has dropped overall? It's going to cost a fortune to heat my home this winter. These prices literally make no sense. I could understand somewhere around $3.50-$4 but this is just ridiculous.
Heating oil is essentially diesel fuel. There is a shortage of diesel fuel right now. Google “diesel fuel shortage” for more information.
Maybe the winter will be mild. I heard some long range forecasts that suggested it might be. I haven’t used heat so far this fall. I don’t use heat as long as my home is in the 60s and I actually prefer cooler indoor temps. The weather forecast is temps in the 60s all week.
