Step away from property tax as main source of income. Add a county and town tax for renters that will help build up the cash reserves for the county and town.

Fire EVERYBODY and start from scratch.
If they really cared about “change” and “the people” then that is the only way.
Corruption from the top right down to secretary’s and janitors.
Gotta clean house.

Pretty sure you can’t do that, public sector jobs are usually protected from politically motivated firings. Which is why there are still many factions of the FedGov, particularly in the State Dept., that are openly hostile to Trump.

Do what both sides always do. Interview competent, qualified, talented people to get their resumes on file...then give the job to a political appointee hack with little experience with the problem, but much experience helping them get elected. That is the LI/American way. "What experience do you have?" "Well I raised $2k for your campaign." "You're IN!"

Fire them. Every last one.
Then you can rehire the legit ones once they have been vetted for cronyism, stupidity, and bad attitudes.
