...is this a bad sign?

Cops have insider information... could they know the area is being overtaken by gangs?

Not the first thing that would pop into my mind, but if that is how your mind swings, I guess it might be a possibility. Do your homework before jumping to conclusions, people move for any number of reasons.

Don't you live in Valley Stream? Maybe they cops wanted to move to a better school district for their kids?

All Long Island police know the locations of existing and forming vortexes. My bet is on a new one forming and they're getting out before the weird stuff starts happening.

Perhaps they were forced to retire for reasons you will never know. If you stuck around because of those two cops, I suggest you grow a pair and take care of your own affairs. If that is not in your character, Queens and Brooklyn might be more up to your liking, where cops are dime a dozen to make you FEEL safer.

I got a cop next door. Id be damned if I counted on his assistance in the time of need.

Maybe they didn't like their new neighbor?

Maybe they told you they are leaving so they could watch you closer when your guard is down?

Definitely a bad sign. I would sell at whatever price you can get for your home and leave immediately.
