When we switched to doing the NY to FL run with an overnight, we would stop in Florence, SC on the way south and Fredericksburg, VA headed north.
Me too. On the rare occasion my wife would bug out we'd stop in Florence on the way down.
Don't think I've ever stopped going home though. I'd be doing the drive with toothpicks propping my eyes open but whatever.
I have no desire to do it anymore. Don't care if I ever step foot in Florida again.
The wife wants to see her parents and family on the plane she goes.I haven't driven down since like September.
Holbrook to Tampa in 17 hours, stopping only for gas and eating in the car. Myrtle Beach in 10 should be no problem.
Since we're one upping each other I once did Buffalo to Daytona in 14 hours driving through the night (2 people heading for spring break). Averaged over 80 mph in a Honda Civic.
Nowadays I get tired after more than 5-6 hours of driving and forget about driving overnight.

Well sure, Spring Break. Your little head was in command of that vehicle.
I drive pass Myrtle Beach every year on the way to Orlando. Takes me about 14 hours to get to Myrtle beach including bathroom stops and stopping for dinner.
Thank you. We are driving straight back but I didn't want to start my vacation wiped out from the long drive. Plus we can't leave early in the am so we won't be on the road until after rush hour.
We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Fredericksburg South (I-95), VA coming back up. I think it was only a 7-8 drive hour drive back to LI.
Depends on how far you can get in Virginia....Fredericksburg or Richmond. There's a nice Homewood Suites in Fredericksburg that has probably 1000 places to eat nearby (and it's next to a Wegman's).
I know someone who likes to stop in Emporia but honestly those parts can be a lil scary.
