I recently moved to glen Head and noticed I have small black specks in my water. I noticed it when the washing machine emptied into the slop sink. Like black sand with small white dots mixed in. It was actually a decent amount It’s larger than sand grain but way smaller than a pebble. I removed the elbow of the slop sink and it was caked in there. It has a smell to it too. Any ideas?

Call a local plumber, he may deal with it a lot.

How old is your home?

So the only place you notice it is the discharge of the washing machine? Hard to tell without looking at it but my guess is some part of your machine is on its way out. Do you have a white bathtub in the house or a white sink? Fill it up and look at the water. If the water isn’t clear something else is going on. Maybe a carbon filter let loose or somthing. You can pm me if you have any question.
