first meeting, which is scheduled for April 30 at Nassau Community College’s College Center Building in room 252/253, from 7 to 9 p.m., residents can address concerns in a public forum with elected officials.
This will be just a giant crab fest and NIMBY meeting. You live within 15-25 miles of an airport and you should know that. If I buy a home near a farm, I expect farm smells.

Feel free to go on the 30th and say that in person.
Seems to me just the same as meet the LIRR Manager, nothing changes.
Secondly, do YOU really think that they are going to reroute the planes to the north shore?
Come on people, we couldn't even get a highway to CT built because the north shore didn't want the unwashed masses coming through their neighborhoods.

Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. With the Nextgen thing the planes ARE incessantly flying over the North Shore -- from Huntington west to East Hills. Do a little research before you sound off.

Dealt with the noise like 5 years ago for quite a few months - it was like an onslaught day after day when before that there was nothing. And all of a sudden one day they just stopped. Bliss. The other day one flew overhead for whatever reason and it reminded me how thankful and lucky I am not to deal with it anymore. I also stopped visiting that noise thread. Those who tell others to shut up or don't mind it, call them up and have them fly over your house every 5 minutes every day then. You won't mind.
The fact that people had quiet and if that changes after they purchase, it is 100% a legit reason to complain. But you knew that. Getting away from noise is a major reason people move out here. If you've never dealt with it to the degree and frequency we have, you have no place arguing.
I had those planes flying over my old house non stop. It wasn't a top reason but it was in the top 5 reasons for selling. I rented 1 mile away in the same town, in the 6 months I lived in the rental barely heard any noise. Sometimes it's just bad luck to be in the flight path.
I think for this meeting we need to accept that planes won't just disappear above us. BUT, multiple landing routes throught nassau county, to concentrate noise per area for shoter times, is possible, and it would be fairer.
Also the priority should definetely be on routes on the south shore (water), unless extreme winds or fixes on runways occur.
