Town of Hempstead - electrical permits (house, company, work)

Hi,

I have been trying to research this - I understand most electrical work requires a permit in Town of Hempstead, but it's not the Town that comes to inspect it after but instead it's an independent electrical agency? Is that true? Do these independent agencies look at the entire house or just the electrical work?

We had a panel upgrade done when we moved in, and it was inspected by the NY Board of Fire Underwriters, which is a private company I believe.

He just looked at the work done at the panel.

Town of Hempstead may not use underwriters but the town can let you know. As JB said very easy process.
