Please check your local town codes to be sure. I believe you need to have at least a solid door for a boiler room, the interior areas of the room that is not concrete as well as the ceiling directly above the units. All of the above is for fire prevention.

You'll need a ventilation grill as well either to outdoors or an adjacent room or closet (keeps a vacuum from forming and extinguishing pilot lights).

Typically, Code requires the walls/ceiling to be 1-hr rated construction. There are many ways to achieve this:

The door needs to be 1-hr rated as well.

When building out the partitions, you need to make sure you have sufficient "return air" into the room. This means you need to let the room get air from either your HVAC system or the adjacent room (via an undercut door or grill/louver). Otherwise the boiler will starve for air and not work properly.

Town of Oyster bay requires fire resistant door, 90 minute rated and 3/4" sheetrock.

Interesting. Who is the best professional to contact to get this done? It seems like a small job for bigger contractors, but I don't know if a handyman would properly get it done.

A handyman can handle. Standard installation of sheetrock and door. If you have pipes going into the ceiling, need to fill in the space with fire-barrier caulk.
