Hi,

I recently installed a Hunter Pro HC sprinkler controller. I would like to water the lawn and garden beds once a week. There are several predictive watering adjustments and weather station adjustments. Can anyone recommend what settings they use? I have mixture of grasses - rye, bluegrass and fescue and I live in Huntington.

Currently I have it set at:
1. Not to water when temps are less than 45F
2. Water 30% more when temps are above 80F
3. Do not water when chance of rain is higher than 80%
4. Do not water when 1.5in+ rainfall in last 7 days

I have never had a nice proper lawn before so I'm new to this. Thanks so much!

Those sound like good dead average settings.

I have a Rachio and it works a bit differently - my only concern about your settings is during the hottest months if once a week is enough? Mine will water more frequently and then as the weather cools lengthen the time between watering.

Thanks for your reply. The only thing I have to mitigate that is "Water 30% more when temps are above 80F". Will 30% more be sufficient? I might have wait until Summer and see how that pans out.

You will definitely have weather related tweaks. Irrigation is never "set it and forget it".

It’s gotten better than the old Rainbird water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday model though.

I love that if it rains my system knows to skip, and if it’s getting hotter to water more frequently.

Plus if I see something looking a bit dry I can manually start it from my phone and select the # of minutes to water.
