So on Wednesday 11/11/20 a car traveling N/B crossed the grass median and struck a vehicle going S/B ( between Babylon Tpke & Sunrise Hwy). The driver of the S/B vehicle was killed and a passenger in his vehicle suffered serious injury.

This begs the question why are there many areas of the Meadowbrook Pky with zero median safety/safety rails/barriers? Had such a barrier been in place a death & serious injury could have been avoided. How many other head on accidents have occurred in the past due to the lack of safety barriers? Where's the media & our elected officials on this important safety issue?

Also many areas of the Meadowbrook have very old wooden median barriers that appear structurally suspect.

Doesn’t fit Andy’s narrative sadly.

The roads are more dangerous than the party people are driving to that they are now banned from attending.

It’s a state road and the state has no money. Long time residents probably also don’t realize how overgrown and crappy the sides of the parkways look either.

Don’t forget all the trash and litter that is never, ever picked up. You rarely see this in NJ or CT, and they have no money either.

The parkways are death traps.
Too many stupid people driving way too recklessly, way too fast.
And there ain’t nothing that can be done about it without turning it into a major commuters apocalypse. Ideally, they need to be renovated, straighten curves, add lanes, etc, basically convert them into the LIE. But that won’t happen. Or easier, just aggressively enforce the traffic laws. But that definitely won’t happen.

It's not only the Meadowbrook, there's roads all across this island where cars are going 50+ MPH and there is no median or divide whatsover.

I lived in CA for awhile and actually forgot how unsafe the average road on LI is. Parts of 25A you have people flying at 70 MPH and zero media/divide.
