Hi, I am planning to move to Hicksville, and I found a house that my family and I would like to love in to. It's located near the intersection of Plainview Rd and Park Ave.I have to commute to manhattan for work, so i thought this would be perfect since it's about 15 mins walk to Hicksville LIRR.

However, i'm not really familiar with the area that i'm moving into, and I want to know if it's a safe and friendly neighborhood. I've read some public ratings online( they say it's average), but i would also like to hear from people who are more familiar/currently live in Hicksville.

Any advice or information about this town would be appreciated

Best advice I ever got was to ask the mailman. He sees all on his route.

That are has definitely gotten nicer over the years. There some run down homes on Plainview rd many of them are rentals. I wouldn't worry about safety, Hicksville is a safe area. I used to park my car in this area and walk to the train from 2012-2020. Never had any issues or saw anything. If anything all the Indians moved in and made it way nicer. Plainview rd/ East marie st is kind of blah, the side streets park, bay, elm etc all have kept up homes.

The station itself looks like a major train terminal.
Not a cozy area at all. Then you got the IKEA traffic to deal with. WE looked before we settled elsewhere.

As a life long Queens native of the white persuasion, I'm told it's ok at best but far less desirable than decades ago. But what part of LI is better now compared to its less diverse hey day!
