Long Islanders who are fully vaccinated are expressing their frustration Monday over trouble trying to get the state's Excelsior Pass app to work.
The trouble with the app comes as the Islanders get set to take the ice at Nassau Coliseum Thursday where fans will be sitting in sections divided by who is vaccinated and who is not.
Emma Nacewicz has been fully vaccinated for about a month but she still can't prove it using the state's Excelsior Pass phone app.
"I went online, signed up and it came up with an error message," says Nacewicz.
The same thing happened to David Horowitz, an Islanders fan who plans to be at the playoff game Thursday.
"When I enter my information it tells me, 'We can't verify your information,'" says Horowitz.
New York Knicks owner James Dolan said vaccinated fans will get priority during the upcoming playoffs.
"We're going to still make room for people who are unvaccinated," says Dolan. "But honestly, we're going to favor the vaccinated."
It makes sense from a business standpoint. Vaccinated sections under the CDC guidelines could hold more people, which means more ticket revenue. Putting them in the upper deck in the baseball stadiums also helps to justify opening more concession stands in those areas. People buying food and drink equals more money. It also justifies bringing in the additional staff needed to handle the crowd, as people just sitting in their seats for 3 hours may be a net loss or at least a thin margin without concession money.
^ Yes and no. Might make sense in Ny because what we are dealing with here with dictator Cuomo. But when you look at the big picture throughout the US and how they have had packed stadiums(many maskless) it’s just makes no sense.

so what if 5 people want to go to a game together in NY, 3 are vaccinated 2 are not.
they wont all be able to sit together in NY, because according to the scientist its to dangerous
but if you go to texas its perfectly fine you can all sit together.
at what point does common sense begin to tell you, something isnt right?
I thought a basic high school education should tell you something is wrong. but even a 12 year old child would see something is wrong if their cousin in texas is going to baseball games and they are all able to sit together but the cousin and family in NY is separated.
I child can see something is wrong, but a grown adult, with multiple years in high school, college thinks this is science.
how can the texas cousin sit with their cousin in a NY game? they need to inject something into their body, thats how.

its all based on science right? right?
hey, at least they can fill the nose bleed seats!
Those decisions are made at a much higher level than Dolan or Steinbrenner. But since the state set guidelines for them to follow and they're stuck until Cuomo or the legislatures change them, the seating models are arranged to maximize revenues.
