I have to laugh at the people who say "nobody wants to be a cop". That's laughable. They charge 200+ an application and get like 20k+ applicants. That's a far cry from NOBODY. What job do you know of that charges people to apply besides cop? There are thousands of people for whom becoming a cop is like hitting LOTTO.

It actually is a lotto! You score a 100% you get placed in a lottery bin.
They charge so they can rent schools, proctors, ect…. I know, it’s all part of Suffolk County/tax payers.
When you have a certain segment of the population that wants to "misbehave", but not be arrested for it, and when they get caught, violently fight with the Police, then sue the Police, you have a "no win" situation for the Police. Sometimes it takes a considerable amount of force, to subdue a criminal, and it DOES get ugly, and it puts the Police in a position that they probably don't want to be in. So, in order to get them to wear body cams, which could, in certain instances make their actions look questionable, you have to provide some sort of incentive, to get them allow that.
Personally, given the current climate on the streets, I don't see how you can get anyone to join the Police force......and that's not good.
The body cams will protect police. It is not a burden on them.
I am pro-police. However, that they should have to be paid $3k a piece to wear a body camera is beyond my understanding in every respect. All I can say is "Unions!" >
Correct. Body cams reveal that most police encounters involve crazy people that deserve what they get.
My only issue is how you mount on self to give best perspective. I have seen some body cam footage that was just not definitive, or just barely.

Well with the housing prices the way they are, who can blame them?
I wasn't aware that we had a big problem with police misconduct on Long Island. If the braindead Democrats want to saddle all cops with this garbage, I hope they choke to death on the bill (I'm including Democratic voters in this).
That will be on the next tax bill. Annual PD Body Cams: $125.22
