This is new to me, I never heard of columns being a deal breaker. But to each his own.

From what I have seen, bigger deal breakers for some people are:

--- lack of adequate parking/driveway
--- inground pool - some people love them some do not
--- lack of basement or storage
--- lack of a dining room
--- kitchen too small or outdated
--- not enough bathrooms
--- not enough bedrooms
--- front lawn or backyard too small
--- too close to highways, railroad, powerlines etc.
--- TAXES ALREADY TOO HIGH (and what is it going to be 5 or 10 years???)

Lack of garage is a deal breaker for some folks.

yeah - it seems like an odd thing on which eliminate a home you're considering. I get it that these columns are a relic from another era, but if you want Dix Hills (I'm guessing that's where this house is located), it comes with the territory.

if it makes the poster feel better, I just passed a home where two-story pillars are being constructed on a new overhang.
Some people must still like them

The only other options are wooden fences that easily degrade over time or chain-link-looking fences right? White (or any PVC color) is best for a fence.

there are some good looking horizontal composite fences...and of course there's masonry. But you're right, the white pvc fence is generally preferable to the traditional options. Especially when combined with landscaping so that you're not confronted with uninterrupted white all over.

I like the aluminum fence with the black finish. I don’t care for the PBC fencing but I can’t imagine it being a deal breaker.

It is true that certain styles go in and out.

I have been looking at houses for the last year or so. Not buying right now, because prices are really inflated far too much in one year, its actually insulting to the buyer.

One thing I have noticed is that houses that are being flipped by these resellers, they are putting in new kitchen cabinets that are all white. Apparently white cabinets are the "in" thing right now. But we know how it goes - everyone and their uncle will get white kitchen cabinets - and then all of a sudden white kitchen cabinets will become boring and eventually outdated.

at current market, who cares.
if it wasn't for seller's market, it might just be.
If your buying, just make sure you can live with it.
You can always improve your home (mostly), but you can't change location.
