I have interest on a multi family house in Woodmere. Have some questions need to be clarified(didn’t find similar threads in this form…)
1) as an Asian family, will we have difficulties to live this neighborhood? Especially the kids in schools (Hewlett-Woodmere SD)?
2) In case we want to rent one unit out(since it is multi family house), is it easy to be rented out? Looks like the rental houses are very limited in Woodmere. Do most people there prefer own houses?
3) is flooding insurance a must or strongly recommend in this neighborhood?
Thank you so much for any insight feedbacks or comments!
Just be prepared to live in a neighborhood of Karens. When I dealt with code enforcement for that area, 90% of the complaints were basically nuisance and nonsense: BBQ to close to the fence, waiting too long to collect packages that were delivered, claims of apartments or some illicit use if you had a lot of visitors...
Make sure that your accessory apartment is 100% legal via permits from the Township, not just the county taxing the place as a two family. You will absolutely be inundated with visits from the Town if the neighbors think or can prove otherwise.
Why the hell would anyone want to live there with JFK being next to it and all the pollution that comes with it??
Also its surrounded with bad areas and Yeshivas
Definitely will go to the town office to check if it is 100% legal multi family house.
Yeah, guess would be a little headache if have to deal with nonsense complaints…although will try to not bother neighbors. We are very quiet and not party people…
What is the rental market there? Why the rental houses are so limited?
Thank you so much for your information!

The School District (Hewllet-Woodmere SD) has good reputation. Also, the small town looks nice and has a suburban feeling.
Thanks for your comments!

School District #14 is excellent. They had a lot of great programs pre-pandemic. There is a growing Asian population and an increase in diversity. Anyone who can afford the area will be fine. The anti-Semites on this board put down this area regularly. Agree about the airplane noise. It can get very loud in the summer.
Yeah. Great neck has lots of Jewish people and Asian, I don’t think it is a big problem.
Not sure how noisy in the summer, maybe especially in the evenings?
Thank you so much!

What bad areas surround Woodmere?
