Question - for anyone who works/worked in the Greenwich St area. How did you commute pre-pandemic? Did you walk from Penn or took the subway? What was your routine. Thanks in advance.
I've made the walk back home but it is pretty long. Nice stroll though and great exercise.
Depending on where on Greenwich you are going to need maybe 45 minutes. Add that into your LIRR time and it could be quite a long commute.
I usually take the subway though, sometimes I go into Atlantic in the AM/Penn home depending on the schedules.
Where exactly on Greenwich are you? If you near the northern portion just south of 14th street, it would be good exercise and a nice walk as long as the weather is decent.
if you are on the south end of it, you would be looking at a walk close to an hour. I worked near Barclay & Greenwich in the late 2000's & wasn't a walk I ever thought of making before or after work (if I was in the city on the weekend, might be a different story, but not on a work day) I would typically take the 2/3 from Penn to Chambers.
Just some context: The length of Greenwich Street itself is 2.4 miles from the Battery to Fourteenth Street, or 1.9 miles (about 38 short pre-1811 Commissioners' Grid blocks) from the WTC to the same point. From there to Penn is 17 standard 1811 Commissioners' Grid blocks, somewhat shy of a mile depending on where you are exiting.
