Anyone know if you can place an in ground pole style basketball hoop on the grass between the sidewalk and street in TOH. I can’t find any law prohibiting it. Thanks

Best bet would be to check with TOH Highway Department. They control that strip of grass.

They may only care if it's part of a larger paving project or would restrict driveway or utility.

You would be better off with one of these.

I thought the same thing, how sad that this is even a worry. Probably have to file a permit or variance, and then of course, your taxes will go up

I meant to say isn’t it ** town property ** hence I would guess no code exists because ira not even your property. Same concept like sprinklers I would guess.

How about the morons who just put the entire thing on the street. Ridiculous. It is a public road and now no one can park there and if you do, the ball is going to land on the car.

No. I never would park in front of someone else’s house. I’m just saying that I see it where the hoop is at the border of the property line and the neighbor next door can’t park in front of his own house because there are kids playing there and the ball hits there car. Never happened to me but I know people input has happened to. Who the hell is someone to put it on a public street and not in their own driveway? And it makes the neighborhood look like trash.

The town owns that land and you want to install a basketball hoop there? Good luck!

Get a portable one and put it on your driveway. We've had a portable one in our backyard for 10 years, they hold up well.

(and yes, they do blow over in the wind and will probably hit someone's car and then all hell will break loose....).
