We have been paying just under $40 for an 8-week, 7-day a week delivery subscription to Newsday for a long time. Noticed today that they were increasing that rate to just under $60, so I called and asked to cancel. They haggled back to just under 40 again, so I was content.

Spoke to some of my co-workers after that phone call and told them that story. Found out they all pay various amounts for the same subscription (8-week, 7-day a week delivery). Prices ranged from ~120 to ~265 per 8 weeks.

Told them all to call and cancel/threaten to cancel, to see if they could get a reduced rate. How could they justify having some people pay that much, while others skate by under $40? If you are subscribed to Newsday, how much do you pay? Just curious.

(If it wasn't for my father living with us who loves the newspaper, I'd have gotten rid of that subscription years ago)

IF you think that is bad try doing the same with Optimum and take a poll. You will be stunned.

like you , just under $40 for eight weeks.
They keep raising it periodically to $50-$60 for eight weeks. I call them, and they usually agree to raise it just a few bucks since I have been a "valued customer" since somewhere around 1855

We pay around 70 dollars for 8 weeks. It went to 99, and we called and got a reduction. I I said in another thread about this that I feel local papers provide a valuable function, so I would likely not cancel, but I’ll take a price cut for sure.
And I do still read/peruse it daily before work.

You can read newsday for free on iphones. Click the article and while it loads Click on the paper symbol on the top left of the address bar. I don’t read newsday but I heard it’s a technical glitch.

I am updating this old Newsday thread to see what any subscribers on this forum are paying now. I have been negotiating with Newsday every six months to a year when they raise the rates but that gets tiresome even if they give me a deal. I or my family have had a subscription for almost 50 years so maybe that’s why they have given me good deals. I was paying about $30 for 8 weeks my last negotiation and now they bumped it to the just under $40 rate. Anyone have a better rate than that?
