My newly married son and daughter in law both work in NYC and put an offer into a house in Manorville, Suffolk County. Is there an easier way for them to make the commute then driving to Ronkonkoma and taking the LIRR from there? And does anyone know what the LIRR commuter parking lot is like near Ronkonkoma? Thank you.
I don’t wish that on anyone. Are they going to do this for their entire careers ? That’s rough. But best of luck to them.
20 min drive. 1.5 hour train. Plus subway/taxi if needed. 2 hour commute each way times each spouse. 4 hour commute for them each day combined when you really think about it.

Yes that is what they are figuring. They are young - its what they can afford right now but wondering if there was a better way. Thanks. Repped you.
Young people make mistakes.
Wasting 4 hours of your time each day on work is very sad and silly.
Even 2 hours is too much. This is why Wfh made people so much happier and raised their quality of life.
They should live with parents for a year and save very hard to put a bigger down payment on a house closer.
If your in Suffolk and not in Huntington or Babylon township it’s not commutable. Even there it’s questionable if your more than 10 min by car from Nassau county.
