I know many don't have access to Newsday online, but I came across an article on their site that truly moved me. A two year old's skull was fractured, leaving him disabled, after an off-duty Suffolk cop rear-ended the father's vehicle. Afterwards, the cop's union buddies lied and protected him so he couldn't be convicted of DWI. Just heartbreaking and just so wrong. Are these our heroes?

The video is just gruesome. How does this cop live with himself?

I don’t think it’s surprising that cops cover for other cops and for powerful politicians.

Here's the story from a site without a firewall.

that drunk cop should be locked up along with every single corrupt cop who helped cover up the crime he committed.

So far the new DA has not done the right thing on this case. Cases like this start looking strangely similar to how Spota used to cover up all the corruption under his watch.

Look at what happened with the off duty Nassau cop who shot a cab driver that it took years to finally fire after being protected by Suffolk Cops in Huntington. He should be in jail. Everyone involved there should have been fired as well. Long Island police unions are political king makers and are risks to public safety, while they pose as the last defense against the barbarians. I respect cops and they have an important job, but stuff like this makes it difficult to say they aren't corrupt as hell.
