While showing a house, I noticed this (buyer did not).

Client is not interested in the house, but this seems serious. Any safety concerns in case I show the house again to another buyer?

Bring a carbon monoxide detector with you. That is the biggest concern and a byproduct of natural gas and what the vent is there for - CO is a silent killer so becareful.

I assume it’s going into the chimney and it’s located in the basement. It needs to be fixed, that’s venting exhaust from the boiler or hw tank. It’s probably 300-500 to repair that. Cut it out put in a new section.

We discovered that problem when we bought our first house in 1978, and I just repaired it myself for a few bucks for sheet metal. That would have to be disclosed to a potential buyer, but I would have the seller get it done ahead of time.
