Yesterday my son said he heard sirens and loud speaker police announcement in neighborhood over, and few weeks ago there was heavy police presence (and they wouldn't say what happened) at a nearby park. I heard from few friends there was a case of kidnapping but no news in the media.

Is there a police blotter or local discussion boards anywhere? There are facebook "moms" groups but they are not really aware of stuff like this. Any suggestions?

"Patch" has local issues, where they often have police reports.

The Citizen App is starting to get more use on LI. It’s very good in the city.

I highly advise EVERYONE to use citizen app. I don't care where you live in the boroughs or on LI, it will shock you how much crime is going on right in your back yard....sometimes literally.

I didn't know about Nextdoor, I'll check it out. For Citizen I thought it didn't include Suffolk. I'll have to check again. Thanks.

How about local PD, do they post logs or reports anywhere?
