The Great Gatsby is set on Long Island, but none of the 3 existing adaptations were filmed here. Not sure about the lost 1926 silent version.

They were able to use William and Mary, Williamsburg and some other locales in the area. That Colonial Times tourism comes in handy sometimes. Lots of green screens were used too.

Old Westbury Gardens has been featured in several movies, most notably Hitchcock's North by Northwest, where it served as James Mason's mansion: North By Northwest | Film Locations

It was also featured in Cruel Intentions as the home of Louise Fletcher's character: Cruel Intentions | Film Locations

According to the movie locations site, it was also used for American Gangster and Wolf.

Which got me because they could have done it in front of Fire Island or Montauk lighthouse. Unless the timing of the filming was in fall/winter and this was a summer type of scene. They were dressed in t-shirts.

Good series though.
