I thought they were going to redevelop under used commercial real estate into housing in NYC and Manhattan? Is so, why do they need so much housing stock in the suburbs?
Where in the suburbs are people going to work? If the answer is still NYC, then why would someone want to live in a rental in Port Jefferson and spend hundreds of dollars per month and hours per day commuting? If you’re trying to build housing for local service jobs with low pay, it would make more sense to also make sure the apartments were situated on a major north-south bus route.
It's not that they "need" so much housing stock in the suburbs, the housing itself is just a secondary concern.
The primary concern here is to punish the people who already live in the suburbs (and who like the suburbs the way they are). The very existence of a place like Garden City violates the most strongly held religious beliefs of the Left -- these places must be stamped out of existence. That's what this is about.

Stevie Balloney aka mascara boy supports this..... gee.. when was there an idea that he didnt support that came from Albany.
Thank goodness he's term limited and cant run anymore.
We need to concern ourselves with the number of D on the legislature. One I know lives on the water, looking at CT. These policies will never affect that home.

What's work??? Seems like a very foreign concept to many.

Demonrats control Albany... thats a major issue. At least when the state senate was R controlled, there was some checks
Not even close the budget is due April 1st and they haven’t even started really negotiating yet. What’s crazy is in this state almost all major laws (especially controversial ones) go into the budget, that way cowardly senators and assembly members can say they voted for the budget and not the law itself. If they ever tried to pass this standalone it wouldn’t have a prayer even with the democrats majority. My guess is something will pass but it will be much less than what she is proposing.
