You can simply type any zip code in google and the town name appears. Simple.
It ain't that simple.
ZIP Code postal zones, except for one small exception*, are not coterminous with the community (city, village or hamlet) whose name they "share", and many villages and hamlets are in one or more ZIP Code postal zones that have some other community name than the community being served by that ZIP Code postal zone:
The one small exception is the Village of Sea Cliff in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, and the "Sea Cliff, NY 11579" ZIP Code postal zone that have the identical borders. No other community and ZIP Code postal zone that share the same name have the same borders.
Ok. So what is the best search tool to look up areas?

Search by school district and then use a local realtor or real estate agent that doesn't call each city, village and hamlet a "town", and who really knows the difference between the borders of a city, village and hamlet and the non-conforming ZIP Code postal zone that "shares" the community's name.
Thanks for posting that info Tom.
Help or hurt on the way? -Mortgage rates rose a bit this week:
May 29, 2008
"Freddie Mac said 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.08% with an average of 0.6 points, up from 5.98% last week. Last year at this time, the 30-year loan averaged 6.42%."
I don't think that's enough to tip the scales for the majority of folks waiting on the sidelines, not enough for me anyway. I do wonder what the banks are going to do to push the foreclosed/bank owned properties they are currently sitting on (with more on the way most likely).
