Lynbrook is a beautiful village. It has a pretty downtown area with a train station, giving you easy access to Manhattan. It's safe, has good schools, and is a desirable place to live. With that said, the only reason I'd consider moving to Long Island from Oregon is to be close to family. Otherwise, Long Island as a whole is too expensive and increasingly congested.
Yeah not to bash Lynbrook, it’s not the worst place in the world, but a weird random choice unless there is a specific reason like family, work, etc…
There is better along the south shore than Lynbrook.

I've never heard of Lynbrook described as "beautiful." It's kind of ugly, but can be very practical. There's no real "downtown." OP must have family in Lynbrook. Lynbrook was the setting for Everyone Loves Raymond.
