Ok.....so my husband and i just can't seem to sell our condo! We have been on the market almost a year and i'm getting very annoyed! We really want a house, and we feel like we're stuck in limbo.

I was just curious if there was a way to sell you house to brookhaven or the state or something? I thought i saw something on TV once. Or i could be crazy.....LOL I think i just getting desperate!

HELP!

Yes, where is it located? - I see a lot of co-op's collecting dust on the market because of the outrageous maintenance fees - For a 2 Br 2 Bath the cost is $250K and $1600 maintenance! crazy crazy

Are you talking about co-ops or condos?
I think you're referring to condos...

Condos have very high maintenance fees as well - but not nearly as high as co-ops.....sorry for the added confusion

Our condo is in Yaphank. It's right off the LIE exit 68. It's more like a townhouse, you are only attached to other people on the sides of you. We have three floors including a basement. The common charges are only $239 where we live, which includes all outside maintenance (landscaping, snow removal, sewers, the roofs, siding, etc.)

This is because co-op maintenance fees include property taxes and usually an underlying mortgage for the building. In a condo, you pay your taxes seperately, so you need to add that to the maintenance fees to compare the two.

A government entity buys private property when it needs the land the private property is situated on, not as a "favor" to people who can't sell.

Even if they needed the particular land your condo's building is situated on, all the other people in the building would also have to sell so they can knock it down.

I wasn't asking like i need a "favor" because i can't sell! I just had seen something about it. I possibly could be thinking of section 8 houses or something, which i something i definitely would not want to do.

Section 8 housing is not a program where a government entity buys someone's home. It is where landlords agree to rent to low income tenants in return for the government paying 2/3 of the tenant's rent.

Like I said the only time I have heard of government entities buying private homes is when they need the land.
