I was at a comedy show at Westbury last summer and the comedian, a huge Yankee fan make a crack to kick things off that he was annoyed to be in Mets country and better than half the room erupted in support of the Yankees. I was not surprised.
Are there still Islanders fans left???
In the spirit of full disclosure my family is Yankees/Jets and all over the map regarding hockey.

IMO it's closer to 50/50 for Giants/Jets on Long Island...and it may even skew towards the Giants. Keep in mind that the Giants were around for a LONG time before the Jets even existed. Their fanbase goes back 3-4 generations in many cases. The Giants even have a substantial fanbase in the New England area for this very reason.
The Mets had the benefit of picking up the old school Dodgers fans who didn't want to switch to the Yankees. The Jets never had that. They also only had once real chance to pick up bandwagon fans...and that was 40 years ago. Obviously that's not the case with the Giants.
