I looked at the diagram...it looks like winds are stronger by us and closer to land than it is by florida and the like. What does the red mean? It's greenish by us.
Easy.. major companies stop writing policies all together and homeowners are forced to buy more expensive insurance from the state or have none at all.
at least that's what happened here.
At least in our area, as long as you have a mortgage, you are required to have insurance--the lender doesn't want to be without protection!
If the homeowner doesn't provide it, they will, and tack it on to your expenses--rest assured, it's a lot more expensive than if the homeowner himself buys it!
When is it predicted to become a hurricane? I think it's still tropical storm status...?
