Looking for a GREAT arborist who is in Nassau county or would travel to the south shore.

I've a had a bunch of landscaping/tree service guys here and most have no advice or opinions to offer and just want to know what I want cut. I would really like to be advised on what should be cut to ensure the health of the tree, what to remove, what to keep and how to further care for them.

If anyone has a great tree guy any help would be appreciated!

Try Usher Tree Experts. Very knowledgeable, located in Suffolk but will travel to Nassau and South Shore.

If you run dry on referrals, go the ISA website, and look in the menu. On one page you can enter your zip code for names.

International Society of Arboriculture

I'm just beginning to hear feedback about Angie's List these days. Need time to see how reliable that source is.

I have been trying to get someone to cut down a tree for me, but out of the 3 quotes we got, 1 was crazy-high and for the other 2, we called the lowest bidder to schedule an appointment and he never called us back (it's been 2 weeks now). We then called the second-lowest bidder and now have been waiting a week with no call back.

What is it with contractors/small businesses where it's so easy to get them to come out and give an estimate but when you want to sign the deal and get the job done, they take their sweet time? I feel like just getting even more people to come out at this point, because I don't like to reward slow response time with money... I had the same problem with my deck.

Does anyone else have this problem?
