Hello everyone, can anyone tell me if Mastic Beach is a good and safe area? We just bought a house there, well my husband without doing the research on the neighboorhood. Is it safe there? I have two young kids. How are schools? Please let me know, thank you.

Why would you buy a house first without doing research?

Where exactly is this house?

It's a fine area. Schools are great. If you want a clear picture of what Mastic Beach is all about, I suggest you pick up a DVD of "Deliverance". This is the tale of 4 men canoeing down Forge River. It shows in great detail their experience with the warmth and hospitality of some of the fine people in Mastic.

Congrats!

Default Elder Drive

Is Elder Drive in Mastic Beach safe? There is a great house for an amazing price and on Trulia, it states that "lowest" as the crime statistic. I don't have kids and don't plan on having any so school is not the issue.

Generally speaking, Mastic Beach has a higher-than-average rate of property crime. I'd avoid, personally, regardless of whether you have kids.

Why do people say to stay away from Neighborhood road?

Because it's high-crime. Drug dealers and general up-to-no-good-niks hanging around at all hours of the day and night, with a side order of violence after dark.

I just Google Street viewed Elder Drive and I can't imagine what house you're referring to that looks 'sweet'. I just spent 5 minutes traveling down the street and all I see are run down shanties.

I'm pretty sure once you move in the sex offender won't be living there anymore, unless you invite him/her in.
