We have someone relocating to Suffolk from Ca.

Wants to be in a 3 Bed Condo/Townhouse on the North Shore near the CT Ferry with good schools.

Im partial to 3V but Port Jeff and Mt Sinai are both excellent too.
Port Jeff is a little more expensive but the taxes are fairly low.

What do you guys think/like suggest etc?

I think in this case it's more about the individual unit that is available than the "Hamlet". The best buy in any of those 3 areas is the best buy, period. My concern with Mt. Sinai is crazy, crazy taxes, but you know that when you are looking, so it should factor into what price the max is. All the schools are good and it's the same geographic area for the most part.

Something about that big stack on the hill in PJ(?) or Poquott(?) creaps me out. Stay south or west.

Old Poquot gets the brunt, then the PJ/Setauket border area (Red Barn, California ave approx)

Town homes on Oxhead across from Murphy -- not the over 55 ones, but the next development of them closer to where the country club once was.

I agree with other posters; all three areas would suit them, so see what is available and choose from there. Wish them luck!!
