I have not gotten pulled over in over 10 years. In the past three weeks I have been pulled over two times.
First time on the LIE for not signalling when changing lanes. (my fault) I got a ticket for it. I also got a ticket for going 65 in a 55 when everyone does 70 in the LIE. The cop stated he paced me.
As I was getting this ticket, three other motorists were also pulled over.
Second time was on the Southern State, I changed lanes in an area that had a solid line. The person in front of me was doing 45mph and I figured it was safer to go around than have someone slam into the back of me.
Either way, has anyone noticed a lot more activity and tickets for BS stuff? Revenues!!!!
Yes you are very correct, if you notice they pull people over the last week of every month, they have to meet a quota, to justify their starting slary of 120,000 plus
All I can say is GOOD! Sorry, I dont mean to be a B---h, but if you saw my previous thread about the LIE and the experiences I have had on it with people switching lanes with no signal, speeding at 80 mph, tailgating, and harrassing others that dont treat it like the Indy 500, you would understand. These types if things go on so much so many of us have to take another route (and usually a longer one!) due to these types of activities.
What your saying is true tho, tonight driving home on the LIE I saw no less than 4 persons pulled over by cops. It was so bad that these little pullovers were the MAIN source of delays. I am not sure whats up, but if cops need to pull over more people in order to make the LIE safe for others, then so be it.
This past Friday I was in the HOV lane on the LIE going about 65 to 70..which is the normal in that lane. Some jerk behind me was too impatient so he waited until we approached an entry lane and then crossed the yellow line to pass me. About half a minute later I see a Sheriff behind me with his lights on. I realized he wasn't after me and I pulled to the shoulder. Sure enough, he pulled over the impatient jerk who passed me. Made my day!!!

The cops always deny this quota stuff, at least publicly.
I absolutley with no exaggeration or bias or any other strange or ulterior motives or just plain old sillyness, noticed the increased police presence this weekend coming home from the east end over the weekend. Seemed like every other mile cops had somebody on the side of the road. I actually was pretty tense driving home because of this. It's good though, I only wish they were doing this the other 3 weeks out of the month.

I believe some call it "performance measurement"
