What's the current opinions on North Babylon schools?
From the little i've researched so far, they seem fine to me, though i know there are some negative opinions too.
I'm glad you asked this question. I look forward to first hand responses. I drove by he High School recently when the kids were letting out and was pleasantly surprised by the good looking clean cut bunch of kids I saw leaving campus. The school and grounds looked prim and proper as well. i've read the same negative opinions and am curious if it's piling on or if the parents, students and faculty have the same reviews.
This is a bit of hearsay and like 4th hand information, but one of my wifes coworkers husbands is a teacher there and said N Babylon has a bit of a 'rough element' whatever than means and that generally West B is a better choice.
We were always proud to have a bit of "rough element" to us. I think some of that comes from being traditionally a mostly working class area and there has always been some kids who were somewhat underprivileged in the school. When I was up in the fall it looked mostly the same and nobody I visited was complaining about the school.

yesterday I passed by a house we've looked at previously, to get more vibes of the area.
seems nice.
but something confused me:
i saw a man working in his yard, and i stopped and asked a few questions about the area. His property would abut the one we're looking at. He said he is in WEST BABYLON school district, and that the dividing line is in his yard. House we're looking at is listed as NORTH BABYLON schools. I checked the census site, and it confirms this. ( i didn't double check his house )
Confusing part is that both houses are east of Little Neck Road, acutally both are east of Belmont Ave. How would his house be in WEST BABYLON sd??
I'm not sure which street is the cutoff but those streets would have to loop around Belmont Lake State Park (which is to the East of those streets) to get to NBSH, where as WB schools are right there. On which street did you talk to the fellow?
I agree that it seems a bit odd to be on the west side of the park, and be in NB schools. Belmont Elem. seems to be isolated from the rest of the district.
But i'm more confused how this one house is considered WB schools. oh well.
