It's not like he was some nobody running back...he's one of the best of all time. That said, he's got a giant fork sticking out of his back these days.

By cutting Thomas they saved a $3,000,000.00 bonus they would have been required to pay him as per his contract. LT gets his $5mm over 3 years, so the Jets basically get 2 years out of LT for the price of 1 year to keep Jones.
