well everyhome has its own cesspools, actually a guy on a ride-on mower just made his collapse yesterday and was killed according to the Newsday paper.(checkout Long Island news, New York news, Entertainment and Sports) And we have sewers too, just along major roadways are the grates along the curbs, but every street has got manhole covers.

By the way, WHY????

Default Northport - Both

Business districts and main roads have sewers, the remainder are cesspools.

Where does every home have them? I'm in GC and the entire village has sewers.

In Huntington if the property is within a certain distance to "town," they are on the sewer system. As you get furter from town, cesspool only.

All of CSH is cesspool I believe, even if you are right in town, but that may have changed.

Out east North Fork, hell most of the towns are still getting hooked up to public water, so sewer is out of the question!

I think almost all of Nassau is sewers. Suffolk varies from town to town.

Surprisingly, I think a fair amount of the North Shore does not have sewers. My boss is in Munsey Park and has a cesspool...that was shocking to me.

I am on the South Shore of Long Island, Patchogue, and we have cesspools. I think that most of the Suffolk South shore is cesspools. It probably varies by area.

We are in Ridge(suffolk) & we have cesspools. "city water" just became available here about 5 years ago.
I lived in Oakdale for several years before moving here, we had private sewers & our own treatment plant in a townhouse community. I think lots of single family homes in Oakdale have cesspools. I grew up in Port jeff station, we had sewers.
