I currently live in South Tampa (a very upscale, safe, nice neighborhood). I have been thinking about moving to Los Angeles for a while now.

If I moved, I would have to commute to Culver City for a job.

So my question is: where are some nice, upscale, safe areas I could live? I realize housing costs are much higher in LA. I'm looking at $1500-2000/month rent, for an apartment. I've heard Glendale/Burbank are nice.

Any suggestions of neighborhoods/suburbs/areas would be great. I really appreciate your help.

No way Glendale Burbank due to bad commuting in traffic.

If you correlate good school performance with nice and safe then you might integrate this map

I love it here in Brentwood, definitely safe, almost a small town feel, a real community, some very, very nice houses/apartments along with more reasonably priced ones.

I have to say though, the first month I was here I had O.J. Simpson nightmares every night. :/
